MID360
Integrity diagnostics to fully detect metal loss in the well structure

The MID 360 is the latest addition to our MID electromagnetic platform, one of five patented platforms that provide functional oilfield diagnostics through barriers.
The MID360 is the industry’s first small-scale technology that provides true tubing or first string wall thickness measurement in eight sectors with complete and ‘comprehensive’ electromagnetic wall condition sensing.
MID360 technology has been developed to meet the industry’s growing need for ‘no compromise’ integrity management, with available existing technologies such as multi-lever profiler and conventional electromagnetic methods not fully meeting the requirements.
Profilers measure the inside diameter and estimate column thickness from the ‘nominal’ outside diameter.

Variations in actual diameter and external corrosion, invisible to profilers, can lead to incorrect column thickness values. In addition, hard deposits or asphalt-resinous paraffinic deposits on the internal surface can mask internal defects and lead to false readings. The MID360 measures actual column thickness in multiple sectors, which solves these problems by providing greater accuracy in a wider range of scenarios.
Another factor associated with multi-lever profilers is probing coverage. The profiler levers touch 10-30% of the inner wall surface, so localised metal loss may go unnoticed, and in corrosion-resistant columns, the millimetre tips of the mechanical levers can scratch the protective coatings, exposing the alloy beneath.
The MID360 solves these and many other problems, making it the ideal choice for routine or targeted integrity monitoring of production tubing and tubing strings.
Usage
- Planned or targeted monitoring of first string and tubing condition
- Column condition monitoring by cyclic time monitoring method
- Evaluation of both tubing and production strings in a single operation
- Column condition assessment in the presence of hard deposits, asphalt-resinous paraffinic deposits
- Evaluation of the integrity of high-alloy steel tubing
- Checking the presence and orientation of perforations

Advantages
- Allows integrity management to be conducted ‘without compromise’
- Provides measurement of actual column thicknesses to accurately assess compliance with requirements
- Informed decision to restore well integrity
- Detection of potential column integrity failures before the failures become a defect
- Increasing efficiency and reducing intervention costs
- Accurate column estimation in a wide range of scenarios
- No scratches (unlike mechanical profiler) and control of expensive reinforced structures
- Maintaining performance
